Breaking Atoms

Main Source (1991) Breaking Atoms

Breaking Atoms is the debut album of Main Source. The amazing production of frontman Large Professor, whose heavy, and original, use of sampling influenced hip-hop producers for a good portion of the '90s.
One of those Jazz-Rap Classics that everyone must have, no matter what.
The album also features the first ever appearance of Nas on a record that includes the famous line sampled on Big L's "Devil's Son": "When I was twelve, I went to hell for snuffin Jesus".

"Snake Eyes"
"Just Hangin' Out
"Looking at the Front Door"
"Large Professor"
"Just a Friendly Game of Baseball"

"Once upon a time, not long ago..."

I noticed that there are quite a few songs that are Remakes/Covers of this Ricky D classic, and when I saw his page on wikipedia I decided to collect them, here we go:

Original Song

Slick Rick - Children's Story

Remakes

Black Star - Children's Story

Everlast - Children's Story

Tricky - Children's Story

Black Rob - Thug Story

Eminem - Can I Bitch

Ramson Badbones - Children's Story

Zeebra - Children's Story (Japanese) (thanks to tokyokid)

Mange Schmidt - Manges Godnattsaga (Swedish) (thanks to Fimpen)

All (doesn't include Zeebra's or Mange Schmidt's version) (the zip also includes the song "Doug E. Fresh & Slick Rick - Lodi Dodi" by mistake)

Wikipedia also said that Bjork covered that song, so if you know the name of it or any other Children's Story Covers, hit me up.

Eu Tiro é Onda

-
Marcelo D2 (1998) Eu Tiro É Onda

If you haven’t heard Marcelo D2 already it’s time to do it. Marcelo is a Brazilian rapper, ex-member of the rock group Planet Hemp, that crosses Hip-Hop with Samba, he’s internationally known nowadays but this is the album where it all began. Compared to his most recent album “Meu Samba é Assim”, this is a more underground and hardcore style, but “Batucada” is a track that shows the samba style that the rapper would develop on his next album.
The album also features a guest spot by the Wu-Tang affiliate Shabazz The Disciple.

The Album Time Forgot

5 Elementz (1998) The Album Time Forgot

5 Elementz was a Detroit group formed by Proof (of D12), J Dilla (R.I.P. to both), Thyme & Mudd, the production by J Dilla is dope as always and the rhymes are also dope, the best track here in my opinion is Bumpinsumtin that is a classic without a doubt. A must download to any Dilla fan.

Mindstate

Pete Philly And Perquisite (2005) Mindstate

The most amazing thing about Pete Philly & Perquisite's debut record, Mind.State, is that despite the laid-back beats, the jazzy style, the guest appearance by Talib Kweli, the East Coast Native Tongues groove, is that the duo is actually from the Netherlands, and not some grimy U.S. metropolis. But both MC Pete Philly and producer Perquisite must have studied their hip-hop idols carefully, because they sound authentically American. Mind.State is a kind of loose concept album, with each song describing an emotion that is put into context and explained by the MC's rhymes. This is one of the jazziest albums I've heard since ATCQ, an amazing breath of fresh air!

More Than 30 Motherf***s

Da Weasel (1994) More Than 30 Motherf***ks

I wanted to post something from my country but I know that a lot of people wouldn’t bother listening to something Portuguese because they wouldn’t understand shit, but Da Weasel is a Portuguese rap band that made a debut EP in English, It’s a good CD, here’s an example of their storytelling lyrics on “(God Bless) Johnny”:

"Johnny's house smells like a zoo
It's got full of shit and puke
Cockroaches on the walls
Webs are growing in Johnny's balls
But oh, he's so clean cut
Johnny just wanna fuck some slut
Spend his soul off in the city
Where junkie's king, the air smells shitty
People puking everywhere
Bowels of blood, scabs in hair
People dying in the street
Bodies wasted in defeat
Suburban scumbags they don't care
They just get fat and dye their hair"

1. Da Weasel
2. Monkey King
3. One More
4. (God Bless) Johnny
5. And Life Goes On

Everlast, from House of Pain, is known for his genre-crossing mix of rap and acoustic-based rock music, he has worked with numerous artists in many genres, from Run DMC to Xzibit, Prince Paul or Carlos Santana.
This album is, without a doubt, his best, different of what we are used to hear, I enjoyed it a lot.

"Ain't nuthin like the Old School..."

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

Eric B & Rakim, LL Cool J & Public Enemy - Live In Amsterdam 1987

Don't ask me where this came from because I don't know, but GODAMN, 3 of the best artists/groups ever on the top of their carriers on the same stage on the same night, that's crazy!
When I downloaded this I thought the audio quality was some crappy noisy shit, but for my surprise, the quality is great, I don’t know how this hasn’t been officially released…

Part 1
Part 2
Part 3

By the way, how's the pic? I made it myself with 3 photos to make it look real

The Fugees (1996) The Score - Bootleg Versions EP

The Fugees reunited last year and they are working on a new album, but the 3 tracks that leaked were kinda... huumm.. garbage, but Canibus said in an interview that he had recorded 5 tracks with Clef for the new Fugees album, so again, we'll have to wait to see.
