Rap Dungeon Selection #02

Rap Dungeon Selection #02

As promissed here's another weekly selection of the new songs, this week wasn't as good as the previous one so I found kinda hard to select some tracks, tell me watchu think.
Starting with a big collabo from the Zion's (from Zion I) mixtape, an UGK track featuring Big Daddy Kane, Kool G. Rap and Marley Marl, an alternative sound from Beatman and Rockin with good guests, the song from Common's GAP commercial, Diddy's (yeah, I know) new remix featuring Nas, Cee-Lo and Jada, the only decent track the new Eminem's horrible mixtape, a Rae/Ill Bill remix from IB's new mixtape (it's a few weeks old, but who cares?), the new amazing Talib Kweli single (owns "Listen"in my opinion), a Raekwon track with production by Ill Bill (that fits perfectly with Rae's style), a new Rakim freestyle from some DVD (can't remember, I ripped it from a youtube vid, so the quality isn't great), and a track by STK, one of the Portugal's finnest mc's.

As a bonus, I included an old Eminem track (97) that I leaked this weekend.

Digable Planets

I’m totally busy this weekend so I just ripped two classic Jazz-rap CDs, believe me, you can’t say that you’re a true hip-hop fans without listen to this.
Digable Planets' fusion of jazz and hip hop received excellent reviews and solid sales with the release of its debut album, Reachin' (A New Refutation of Time and Space), in 1993, which is widely considered a landmark of alternative hip-hop. The album's lead single, "Rebirth of Slick (Cool Like Dat)," became a major crossover hit, winning the Grammy award for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group.
Its second album, Blowout Comb, was released in 1994 (see 1994 in music). It was also critically acclaimed, but the trio soon broke up due to creative differences, as well as the deaths of both of Ladybug's parents due to unrelated illnesses. However, after like 10 years off, Digable Planets have reunited and made a tour, and maybe a new album is on the making right now...

Endtroducing..... DJ Shadow

DJ Shadow [1996] Endtroducing.....

This album is different from my usually posts but I couldn’t leave it behind, it’s more electronic than Hip-Hop, but believe me, it’s a masterpiece.
Endtroducing..... is the first studio album by DJ Shadow, and it’s known for being built entirely from samples of other audio, such as hip hop, jazz, funk, psychedelia, old television shows, interviews, and percussion tracks. The album has been cited in the Guinness World Records as being the first album created completely from sampled sources. In case you aren't convinced, check the reviews at the end of the post.

Here to Save You All

Chino XL (1996) Here to Save You All

Years before Eminem began outraging parents and pop stars alike with his brutally funny lyrics, New Jersey's Chino XL was already making the musical world safe for brainy, tasteless battle-rappers with his enormously promising but little-remembered debut, 1996's Here to Save You All. Chino is both smart and eccentric, and uses his razor-sharp wit to lyrically dismember everyone from Will Smith to Magic Johnson to Chubb Rock. The same overbearing force of personality that makes Chino a hero to some will undoubtedly turn off others, but for the most part, Here to Save You All is one of the most distinctive and underrated debuts in hip-hop history. text jacked from allmusic.

1. Here To Save You All
2. Deliver
3. No Complex
4. Partner To Swing
5. It's All Bad
6. Freestyle Rhymes
7. Riiiot! Feat. Ras Kass
8. Waiting To Exhale feat. Gravitation
9. What Am I?
10. Feelin' Evil Again
11. Thousands
12. Kreep
13. Many Different Ways
14. The Shabba-Doo Conspiracy feat. Kool Keith
15. Ghetto Vampire
16. Rise

Chino XL is working on his new album, but he said that this one was going to be commercial, and the songs that came out till now completly suck, except this one: Chino XL - Tap Dance (ft. Crooked I)

NY Shit

I think Busta Rhymes' "New York Shit" has a great beat (prod. by DJ Scratch) but Busta and Swizz Beatz kinda ruined it, so I improved it and joined all the remixes of the song, enjoy:

Here are the DJ Kay Slay's verisons all together:
Busta Rhymes - New York Shit/Dirty South Shit/Midwest Shit (feat. Swizz Beats, Nas, Papoose, Labba, M.O.P., Three 6 Mafia, Slim Thug, Rick Ross, Twista & Common)

And for the ones who don't want no "Dirty South Shit":
Busta Rhymes - New York Shit-Midwest Shit (Remix) (feat. Swizz Beats, Nas, Papoose, Labba, M.O.P., Twista & Common)

Here I mixed the Nas & Common verses from DJ Kay Slay's with the Kweli/JG version:
Jean Grae, Nas, Common, Talib Kweli - New York Shit (no Swizz Beats :) )

And here I mixed all that remixes that I could find, creating a mostruous megamix:
Busta Rhymes - New York Shit MEGAMIX (feat. Swizz Beatz, Nas, Papoose, Labba, M.O.P., Three 6 Mafia, Slim Thug, Rick Ross, Twista, Common, Joe Budden, Hi-Tek, Jean Grae, Talib Kweli & KRS-One)

Decomposition

Decompoze (2007) Decomposition (Promo)

Here's something that came to my attention this week. Decompoze first emerged on the scene on Binary Star's Water World/Masters of the Universe (one of the best rap albums ever). His natural talent for both writing and producing was made evident when he began turning heads with his musical style and lyrical impact on the underground anthem “Indy 500.”2006 is set to bring Decompoze's long anticipated solo debut album, Decomposition. With features by some of underground hip-hops most talented artist, J.U.I.C.E, One Be Lo, as well as, Elzhi of Slum Village, KT and Buff 1 of AML, and all the members of the Subterraneous crew. Giving his fans the ultimate interpretation of what Subterraneous and its music is all about. All fans of Hip-Hop can agree on one thing, Decompoze embodies the true essence of real Hip-hop. And for you hip hop addicts another sub classic.
By the way, the album is Promo but it doesn't have those annoying promo messages. It's just not mastered yet.
